Privacy Policy for LessonCue
Last updated: July 25, 2026
LessonCue ("we," "us," or "our") provides a self-hosted lesson scheduling and media playback system for schools, churches, training programs, and similar organizations. This Privacy Policy explains how LessonCue handles information when you use the LessonCue server, web administration interface, TV applications, browser player, and related features.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to:
the LessonCue server software
the LessonCue web administration interface
the LessonCue Android TV, Fire TV, and Apple TV applications
the LessonCue browser player and controller features
related documentation and support communications
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services, websites, or content that may be linked, embedded, or used by administrators within their own LessonCue installation.
2. How LessonCue Works
LessonCue is designed primarily as a self-hosted system. In most cases, data entered into LessonCue is stored and managed by the organization running its own LessonCue installation, not by us on our own hosted servers.
Because of that, the organization operating a LessonCue installation is generally responsible for the data it places into the system and for how it uses that data.

f. Optional Contact or Support Information
If you contact us directly, we may receive:
your name
email address

any attachments or information you choose to provide
4. Information LessonCue Does Not Intend to Collect Automatically
LessonCue is not intended to function as a consumer tracking platform. Unless you separately add such tools, LessonCue is not intended to automatically collect data for advertising purposes, such as:
third-party behavioral advertising profiles
cross-app tracking
personal interest profiling for ad targeting
If your specific deployment adds third-party analytics, embedded services, or remote access tools, your organization should disclose those separately.
5. How Information Is Used
Information processed by LessonCue may be used to:
create and manage user accounts
authenticate users
build and schedule lesson playlists
deliver and cache media for playback
pair and manage TV or browser playback clients
provide remote control and controller functions
maintain software security and integrity
troubleshoot errors and diagnose technical issues
back up and restore system data
manage software updates
respond to support requests
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell personal information.
Because LessonCue is primarily self-hosted, information entered into the system is generally controlled by the organization operating the installation.
We may disclose information only in the following limited situations:
At the direction of the organization operating the system
To service providers who assist with support, infrastructure, or software distribution, if applicable
To comply with legal obligations
To protect rights, security, and safety
As part of a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
7. Third-Party Services and Content
LessonCue may allow administrators to use or reference third-party content or services, such as:
embedded videos
linked webpages
imported media
app store distribution platforms
optional software update sources
optional remote access services
Those third parties may have their own privacy policies and data practices. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
8. Local Network, Self-Hosted, and Administrator Responsibility
If you operate a LessonCue server for a school, church, nonprofit, or other organization, you are responsible for:
configuring your installation securely
limiting access appropriately
managing user accounts and permissions
determining what information is entered into the system
complying with any legal obligations that apply to your organization
If you are an end user of an organization’s LessonCue installation, please contact that organization first with questions about your data.
9. Data Retention
Data is retained according to how the software is configured and how the organization operating LessonCue manages its system. This may include:
retaining account records while accounts remain active
retaining lessons, media, and playlists until deleted or automatically removed under retention settings
retaining logs and audit history for operational and security purposes
retaining backups until deleted by an administrator
If you need exact retention details for a specific installation, contact the organization operating that installation.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to support the security of LessonCue, including features related to authentication, permissions, software integrity, and operational controls. However, no method of storage, transmission, or system operation is completely secure.
Organizations using LessonCue are responsible for securing the devices, local network, server environment, backups, and administrator access associated with their own installation.
11. Children’s Privacy
LessonCue is not designed as a general consumer app for children. It is intended for use by organizations such as schools, churches, and training programs.
To the extent information relating to minors is entered into a LessonCue installation by an organization, that organization is responsible for ensuring that its use complies with applicable laws and policies.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children as a consumer-facing service.
12. International Use
LessonCue may be used in different regions. If you use LessonCue outside your home jurisdiction, you understand that information may be stored and processed in the country or region where the self-hosted server or related services are located.
13. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and role, you may have rights regarding personal information, such as rights to:
request access
request correction
request deletion
object to certain processing
request data portability, where applicable
Because LessonCue is generally self-hosted, requests relating to data within a particular installation should usually be directed to the organization operating that installation.
You may also contact us at the address below for questions about this Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of LessonCue after a revised Privacy Policy becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
